The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India has invited applications for seven Group A Gazetted posts in the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on deputation basis. Important Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Original vacancy circular | 17 September 2026 |
| Corrigendum | 1 October 2026 |
| Current end date shown by MIB | 30 November 2026 |
The corrigendum states that complete applications must be sent within 60 days from publication of the corrigendum in Employment News. For publication purposes, this article uses 30 November 2026 because that is the current end date displayed on the Ministry's live vacancies page.
Candidates should still check the live MIB page and the corrigendum before dispatch in case a later official update changes the receipt date.
Use the Application Deadline Planner to set an earlier internal forwarding date so APAR, vigilance and cadre-clearance processing does not become a last-minute issue.
Regional Officer Eligibility
The Regional Officer posts are for officers of the All India Service or Central Service Group A who are eligible for appointment as Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, along with the prescribed educational, language and experience conditions.
The essential qualifications are:
- Degree from a recognised university or equivalent;
- sound knowledge of Hindi and the regional language linked to the office concerned;
- sound knowledge of Indian history and culture;
- 10 years' administrative or managerial experience in a responsible capacity.
The required regional language is:
| Regional Office | Additional Language |
|---|---|
| Chennai | Tamil |
| Cuttack | Odia |
| Delhi | Hindi |
| Hyderabad | Telugu |
| Kolkata | Bengali |
| Mumbai | Marathi |
The ordinary deputation period for Regional Officer is stated as not exceeding four years.
Additional Regional Officer Eligibility
The Additional Regional Officer post at Mumbai is for suitable officers of the All India Service or Central Service Group A.
Essential qualifications include:
- Degree from a recognised university or equivalent;
- sound knowledge of Hindi and Marathi;
- sound knowledge of Indian history and culture;
- seven years' administrative or managerial experience in a responsible capacity.
The ordinary deputation period for Additional Regional Officer is stated as not exceeding three years.
Because Regional Officer requires 10 years' experience while Additional Regional Officer requires 7 years, the combined experience field is intentionally not flattened into a single value.
Candidates can use Regal Naukri's Work Experience Calculator to calculate their qualifying service period before comparing it with the official circular.
Important Corrigendum Change
The 1 October 2026 corrigendum changes the service-eligibility wording in both posts.
Where the original circular referred to the “Indian Administrative Service”, candidates should now read it as “All India Service.”
All other terms and conditions of the vacancy circular remain unchanged.
Age Limit
The maximum age for candidates applying on deputation must not exceed 56 years on the closing date for receipt of applications.
Candidates can use the Age Calculator to check their age against the current closing date.
Selection and Deputation Terms
This recruitment is for deputation, not open direct recruitment.
Pay, deputation tenure and other service conditions are governed by the applicable Department of Personnel & Training instructions. Selection is based on eligibility, service record and the Ministry's competent selection process.
Candidates who volunteer for the post are not permitted to withdraw their candidature later, according to the original circular.

The official circular requires the prescribed application to be forwarded with the following service documents:
