How to convert CGPA to percentage safely
- Find the conversion method officially applicable to your course, board or university.
- Enter the CGPA shown on your academic record.
- Select Multiplier / factor or Direct ratio only if that is the official method.
- Enter the required factor or maximum CGPA and select Convert CGPA.
- For a job application, verify that the recruiting authority accepts the same conversion method.
If an institution officially states that percentage = CGPA × 9.5, then a CGPA of 8.20 converts to 77.90%. The factor is part of the example, not a universal rule.
CGPA to Percentage FAQ
Is CGPA multiplied by 9.5 always the correct percentage?
No. There is no single conversion factor that should be assumed for every institution. Use 9.5 only when the applicable academic or recruitment rule specifically accepts that factor.
What if my marksheet already shows a percentage?
Use the officially issued percentage where the recruitment instructions permit it. Do not reconvert a value unnecessarily unless the authority specifically asks you to do so.
What is the direct ratio method?
It calculates CGPA divided by maximum CGPA, multiplied by 100. Use this method only when your institution officially defines percentage that way.
Can I use the converted value to claim government job eligibility?
The calculator can perform the arithmetic, but eligibility depends on the recruiting authority's rules, accepted conversion documents, aggregate requirements and qualification conditions.
