Qualification Overview
Candidates must possess a full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a Post Graduate Degree in Law from a college approved by the Bar Council of India, with the prescribed marks.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess:

- a Post Graduate Degree in Law,
from a college approved by the Bar Council of India, with at least 60% marks.
Desirable: Company Secretary (CS) qualification.
Experience Requirement
Candidates should have at least 13 years of post-qualification experience in a Corporate Legal Department.

- commercial contracts and deeds;
- civil and criminal litigation;
- arbitration, including AMRCD;
- labour and service matters;
- RTI compliance;
- corporate governance;
- secretarial services;
- commercial documentation; and

Candidates from PSUs, PSBs, Central Government or State Government should have completed at least 2 years in the immediate previous E5 grade, or the specified equivalent scale.
Private-Sector Candidates
Private-sector candidates should:
- currently draw at least ₹19 lakh gross CTC per annum; and
- work in an organisation with average annual turnover of at least ₹75 crore over the three financial years ending 2025–26.
Age Limit
The upper age limit is:
45 years as on 1 August 2026
Candidates should not have been born before 1 August 1981.
Relaxation for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen applies according to Government of India guidelines. The notification states that the maximum age after all applicable relaxations cannot exceed 50 years.
