The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (Divyangjan), or NIEPID, has opened a broad recruitment cycle covering 68 regular and contractual vacancies, along with 15 internship slots, at its headquarters and regional/composite centres. Employment Notice No. 04/2026 was published on 22 October 2026, while applications must reach the institute by 7 December 2026 at 5:30 PM. The recruitment spans rehabilitation psychology, special education, occupational therapy, speech and hearing, physiotherapy, nursing, social work, administration, caregiving and several allied roles. Four posts are regular direct-recruitment positions; the remaining job vacancies are contractual, including positions under Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres. The 15 internship opportunities are listed separately and are not counted in the 68 job vacancies. At a basic level, eligibility ranges from 10+2 or graduation to specialised postgraduate, medical and rehabilitation qualifications, depending on the post; professional registration and experience apply where prescribed. Candidates must complete the notified Google Form and submit the prescribed hard-copy application. Because the notice covers several centres and employment types, applicants should identify the exact serial number, centre, qualification and contract status before paying the fee or sending documents.

- 10+2, diploma or graduate-level routes for selected support and vocational posts;
- relevant bachelor's or master's qualifications for therapy, social-work and rehabilitation roles;
- specialised rehabilitation/special-education qualifications for teaching and educator posts;

- RCI/MCI registration and relevant post-qualification experience wherever the specific post requires them.
Candidates should use the exact serial number in Employment Notice 04/2026 for the final qualification and experience requirement.
Age Limit
| Post group | Age rule |
|---|---|
| Lecturer in Rehabilitation Psychology | 45 years |
| Lecturer in Special Education | 45 years |
| Rehabilitation Officer — regular | 45 years |
| Vocational Instructor — regular | 35 years |
| Contractual / CDEIC positions | Maximum 56 years, as stated post-wise |

Age, qualification and experience are reckoned on the closing date. Use the Regal Naukri Age Calculator with the official cut-off date before relying on your own calculation.
Pay and Contract Terms
The four regular posts use the notified 7th CPC pay levels. Contractual remuneration varies by post, ranging from ₹25,000 per month for Data Entry Operator to ₹2,50,000 per month for Consultant Neurologist, with several rehabilitation and teaching roles carrying ₹42,000–₹75,000 per month.
Internship stipend is ₹15,000 per month for postgraduate interns and ₹12,000 per month for undergraduate interns, as applicable.
Because pay differs materially across posts, there is no single combined salary figure for the recruitment.
Contractual appointments are ordinarily for an initial period not exceeding three years and may be extended up to five years under the notified conditions. CDEIC positions are initially for twelve months and may be extended based on performance and requirement.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| Candidates not covered by an exemption | ₹500 per post |
| SC / ST / PwD / Women | Exempt |
Candidates applying for more than one post must submit separate applications and Google Form entries for each post and pay the applicable fee separately.
Selection Process
NIEPID will shortlist candidates through a Screening Committee. Group A regular-post selection follows NIEPID/Government of India norms, while Group B and C regular-post selection is merit-based under the applicable criteria.
For contractual Group A, B and C posts, selection is through personal interview. If more than 20 applications are received for a post, NIEPID may conduct a written examination first and then call shortlisted candidates for interview.
